Job Overview: Trade Compliance Specialist - US Customs

Insitu is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented U.S. customs import expert to support its international portfolio of clients. This role specializes in managing U.S. customs clearance applications, auditing, process improvements, and providing guidance on harmonized tariff classifications in the Unmanned Aerial System marketplace.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and manage U.S. customs clearance applications for manufacturing materials and returning deployment hardware.
  • Update import program process documentation.
  • Provide strategic guidance for changes in U.S. tariff policies.
  • Collaborate with parent company and U.S. Customs broker to resolve issues.
  • Work with trade compliance and engineering teams on tariff classifications for new technologies.
  • Analyze and recommend improvements to internal customs processes and tools.

Required Experience and Qualifications

- 7+ years’ experience with U.S. Customs clearance applications drafting and management. - Licensed U.S. Customs broker experience in the aerospace industry within the last 2 years. - Experience in leading import program improvement projects. - Deep knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedule classification and U.S. import rules. - Proven ability to develop business strategies to mitigate duty and tariff exposure.

Required Skills

Strong attention to detail and accuracy, independent working skills, and excellent collaboration. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Teams, SharePoint, and Excel is essential.

Education & Experience

- 10-15 years with a bachelor’s degree or 7-9 years with a master’s degree. - U.S. Customs broker license required.

Contract Details

This is a one-year contract with potential extension based on business needs.
