Role Overview

The Trade Compliance Specialist - US Customs - Remote is an experienced U.S. customs import expert who will support Insitu’s robust international portfolio. The role involves managing U.S. customs clearance applications, harmonized tariff classifications, and continuous process improvements for Insitu’s import program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and manage U.S. customs clearance applications.
  • Update and maintain import program process documentation.
  • Provide strategic guidance on U.S. tariff policy changes.
  • Collaborate with customs brokers, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze customs processes and recommend internal improvements.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience with U.S. customs clearance applications.
  • Recent experience as a licensed U.S. Customs broker in the aerospace industry.
  • Expertise in harmonized tariff schedule classification and import regulations.
  • Strong collaboration with technical and programmatic teams.
  • Proven ability to develop strategies reducing duty and tariff exposure.

Required Skills

  • Independent work ability and prioritization of daily tasks.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. import rules and regulations.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with virtual teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Teams, SharePoint, and Excel.

Education & Experience

The role requires either 10-15 years with a bachelor’s degree or 7-9 years with a master’s degree, along with a valid U.S. Customs broker license.

Contract Details

This is a one-year contract with the possibility of extension based on business needs.
