Job Overview

As a Library Service and Technology Guide, you will perform professional library duties and provide on-site technical assistance to ensure timely and effective library customer service.

Ideal Candidate

The role requires in-person, front-line customer service in Hillsborough County public libraries. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are highly desirable. Multiple positions are available across Public Services, Support Services, and Brand Innovation Sections.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Direct and instruct customers on using the library’s systems.
  • Manage customer accounts and library card registration.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and office equipment.
  • Manage meeting rooms, study rooms, and computer usage.
  • Adhere to library and county policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

Job Specifications

Candidates must have knowledge of computer hardware/software, library filing systems, and digital platforms. Effective communication and the ability to multitask are essential.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, kneel, stand, and walk for extended periods.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License.

Emergency Management Responsibilities

Employees may be required to respond to emergencies as directed by department leaders or county officials.
