Job Description

Wealth Planning Consultant at BMO

BMO is seeking a Wealth Planning Consultant to provide advanced financial planning, guidance, and counsel focused on High Net Worth and Ultra High Net Worth (HNW/UHNW) client segments. This role involves a collaborative partnership with Investment Advisors to develop and deliver a client-focused wealth planning experience, culminating in a documented wealth strategy. You will participate in the entire wealth planning process, from discovery and financial planning analysis to developing high-value financial plans and recommendations, and assisting with client presentations.

A key objective is to create awareness of BMO’s key products and services to generate increased asset levels from HNW/UHNW investors. You will support the growth and retention of client assets by providing wealth planning advice and guidance to Investment Advisors, broadening client dialogues, consolidating assets, and increasing revenues. This position requires a disciplined approach to all sales and wealth management strategies to support regional and national business growth, always with a focus on the client experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate goals-based discovery processes directly with clients, ensuring data capture and plan creation standards are met.
  • Develop detailed and complex financial plans for clients to help them achieve their financial objectives, including conducting client presentations.
  • Implement strategies to increase the scope of services, contributing to overall business growth.
  • Develop internal and external networks and referral sources to grow business within the assigned region.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the assigned business group and assist in the development of strategic plans.
  • Identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making and support the execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Work closely with Investment Advisors in the development and delivery of HNW management solutions and increase awareness of Wealth Planning Consultants in branches.
  • Leverage expert planning resources in taxation, estate & trust, and succession planning to provide insights to clients.
  • Provide coaching and training to Investment Advisors to support their delivery of wealth management solutions.
  • Develop and execute regular sales campaigns and awareness articles for Investment Advisors.
  • Provide proactive, integrated, and customized advice, and create & implement wealth planning strategies.
  • Reinforce sales processes and client experience by identifying gaps and best practices for delivering complex wealth plans.
  • Demonstrate a consultative and collaborative selling approach to achieve business objectives.
  • Provide insight and expertise on advanced financial planning concepts, including tax, estate, succession planning, and philanthropy.
  • Protect the Bank’s assets by adhering to all banking, investment, and lending regulations, policies, and ethical requirements.
