Overview

The Managing Director, Data Architecture and Data Engineering at BMO leads FCU Data & Analytics initiatives, overseeing integrated data architecture, engineering, and the technology roadmap. This role is responsible for the multiyear development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of scalable on-premises and cloud data solutions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design, build and operate robust data storage, integration, and security solutions.
  • Develop and maintain taxonomy, metadata, data quality, lineage, and catalog frameworks.
  • Streamline data pipelines for consumption ready analytics and insights generation.
  • Lead and manage change across FCU, ensuring compliance with risk and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate to define governance principles, standards, and technology roadmaps.
  • Drive continuous process improvement, automation, and infrastructure scalability.

Managerial Leadership

Promote risk culture, diversity, and inclusion while developing leaders and mentoring high performance teams. Ensure adherence to the Bank’s risk appetite and establish a tone from the top to drive sustainable execution.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Data or related discipline.
  • 10+ years’ experience in data architecture and engineering with demonstrated financial services expertise.
  • Expert level proficiency in data modelling, privacy, security, integration, and process improvement.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range is $190,000 - $215,000 with a comprehensive benefits package including performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, health insurance, tuition reimbursement, and retirement savings plans. BMO supports your growth with training, coaching, and career development opportunities.
