As a Commercial Credit Analyst, you will analyze credit information to support lending decisions and processes for new and existing Commercial banking loans and credit solutions within an assigned client portfolio. You will make credit decisions and recommendations in compliance with bank policies and procedures while maintaining an exceptional client service environment.
Key responsibilities include performing financial analysis and calculations, assessing client creditworthiness, preparing detailed credit summaries, and analyzing financial performance and risk profiles of clients within the portfolio. You will utilize financial models and analytical tools to assess client repayment capacity and recommend appropriate loan structures and collateral, supporting credit-granting decisions by making recommendations to your manager. This role also involves supporting portfolio monitoring and compliance, identifying deteriorating credit conditions, and analyzing metrics and industry trends to spot risks and opportunities. You will also support the negotiation of loan terms and conditions and the structuring of loans that align with client requirements and ensure compliance with the bank's risk appetite and policies. Further, you will develop proposals to capture new business, expand client relationships, and build and maintain strong client relationships in collaboration with Relationship Managers and business partners. Other duties include structuring and supporting new, renewal, and extension loans aligned with client needs and bank and risk policies, conducting financial analysis and risk assessments, and monitoring portfolio performance on an ongoing basis, taking corrective action when required. You will minimize BMO’s risk exposure by adhering to credit policies, regulatory standards, and operational guidelines, serve as a point of contact for service requests, and identify revenue and cross-selling opportunities to enhance portfolio growth. Leveraging analysis tools to nurture and grow a portfolio that exceeds ROE thresholds and evaluating client returns proactively is also crucial. You will manage timely and accurate data entry into BMO's systems and leverage this data to support decision-making. The focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; however, it may have broader, enterprise-wide implications. You will exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules and work independently on a range of complex tasks, including unique situations. Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed. You are expected to take measured risks while protecting the bank by applying our Risk Management Framework in the execution of your role, in line with our Risk Culture and within our approved Risk Appetite, making sound and risk-informed decisions that align to business strategy, protect assets, and adhere to applicable policy documents (Frameworks, Policies, Standards, Procedures and Supporting documents), laws and regulations.
