The Role of a Senior Quality Automation Engineer

BMC Helix is hiring a Senior Quality Automation Engineer with a strong ownership mindset and a commitment to delivering high-quality, stable, and scalable SaaS products. This hybrid role blends 50% automation and 50% manual testing, requiring deep hands-on expertise across the product lifecycle, automation frameworks, DevOps, SRE principles, and complex enterprise use cases.

Here is how, through this exciting role, you will contribute to BMC's and your own success:

• Own and drive overall product quality, preventing regressions and customer-facing defects.
• Define and execute test strategies, ensuring comprehensive manual and automated coverage.
• Design, enhance, and maintain automation frameworks, ensuring high stability, efficiency, and scalability.
• Automate new test cases and maintain existing ones with high reliability and low maintenance.
• Review design documents; identify risks early in features, upgrades, and patches.
• Define and implement performance testing strategies, integrating and scalability testing into the development lifecycle.
• Collaborate across engineering, product, and platform teams for seamless integrations and releases.
• Mentor QA/automation engineers and uphold high engineering quality standards.
• Track key quality metrics and drive continuous improvement in tools, processes, and automation.
• Exhibit strong ownership, leadership, and resilience while balancing multiple strategic initiatives and delivering results with minimal supervision.

What You'll Bring

To ensure you’re set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience:

• 10+ years of QA experience; 5+ years developing automation frameworks using Selenium + Java.
• Strong expertise in automation frameworks, regression execution, and Agile environments.
• Hands-on with Selenium, Java, Jenkins, container tech (Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift).
• Experience testing Web, API, and Mobile applications.
• Understanding of scalable system design and enterprise SaaS architecture.
• Exposure to AI/GenAI tools and applying them to testing workflows.
• Experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS/Azure/OCI/GCP).
• Excellent communication, analysis, and documentation skills.
