AI Engineer

About the Role

The AI Engineer at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee will design and build the agent layer of a virtual AI assistant that can take action on behalf of members. This role focuses on orchestrating workflows safely and reliably to handle complex member journeys including benefits, claims, prior auth guidance, and provider search.

Key Responsibilities

• Ideate, develop, and productionalize AI solutions for healthcare payer use cases.
• Design and implement state-of-the-art AI models and algorithms using Python and GCP Vertex AI.
• Collaborate with product teams to identify opportunities to apply AI techniques.
• Conduct research on the latest advancements in AI and continuously improve methods.
• Develop scalable code for deploying AI models into production.
• Gather requirements from Lines-of-Business and translate them into actionable insights.
• Evaluate and validate AI models to ensure accuracy, reliability, and performance.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a Master’s degree in STEM or related field (Master’s/PhD is a plus) and at least 3 years of relevant experience. Experience with machine learning, deep learning, Pytorch, and Natural Language Processing is required. Proven skills in Python and strong software engineering fundamentals are mandatory. Excellent communication and leadership skills are essential.

Additional Information

This is a fully remote role; however, onsite interviews at our Chattanooga, TN headquarters may be required. Sponsorship is not available for this role.
