Software Development Engineer I - Early Career

Multiple positions are available across our Business Units. You will be matched with an appropriate engineering team based on your skillset, experience, and our current business needs.

Primary Location
We prioritize placing early career engineers in locations where they can be co-located with their team and the relevant hardware they support. The primary location for this role is Kent, WA. Please indicate your willingness to be located here in your application.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the full software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, and maintenance.
- Engage in various aspects of applied systems analysis, software testing, quality assurance, DevOps, and data analysis, based on your team placement.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to understand their needs and design software solutions that accelerate vehicle development, testing, and operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software issues across multiple levels, including both server-side and client-side systems.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Degree must have been earned within the last year, with an ability to start by Fall 2026.
- Experience with a modern, object-oriented language such as Java, C#, C++, or Python.
- Proven ability to apply computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills through writing efficient, working code.
- Proficiency in utilizing source control systems, such as Git.
- Relevant internship, co-op, and/or hands-on experience showcasing technical skills and leadership qualities.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive professional relationships, and strengthen a culture of inclusion.
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively on rapid development programs.
- Flexible, adaptable mindset, and self-driven with the ability to seek out requirements with minimal direction.
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with on-premises and cloud-based infrastructures, particularly AWS.
- Familiarity with modern development tools and practices like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with rich user experience development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React).
- Background in developing and testing real-time embedded systems, vehicle or industrial control systems, gaming systems, device drivers, or mobile devices.

Compensation & Benefits
The compensation range for WA applicants is $110,623.00 - $154,871.85 annually. Other site ranges may differ.
Benefits include: Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program. Paid Time Off includes up to four (4) weeks per year (based on weekly scheduled hours) and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
