Overview
The Chief Strategy Officer of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association is a senior executive responsible for shaping and advancing the Association’s long-term strategic agenda in service of the Blue Cross Blue Shield System and its independent member Plans.
Compensation & Benefits
The hiring range for this role is $279,200 to $418,000, with potential for bonus incentive pay. Benefits include paid time off, 11 holidays, comprehensive medical/dental/vision insurance, generous 401(k) matching, a lifestyle spending account, and more.
Key Responsibilities
- Enterprise Strategy & Vision: Develop multi-year strategic plans and actionable roadmaps aligned with mission and priorities.
- Stakeholder Leadership: Collaborate with the CEO, Board, and Plan leadership to drive Systemwide initiatives.
- Market Intelligence: Analyze external healthcare trends, competitive forces, and regulatory changes to inform strategy.
- Innovation & Growth: Identify strategic partnerships and growth opportunities to enhance value for Plans and members.
- Executive Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing strategy organization, ensuring disciplined execution and accountability.
Required Qualifications & Experience
15+ years in corporate strategy, healthcare, management consulting or related fields; experience in complex, matrixed, or federated environments; proven track record influencing at Board and C-suite levels; strong analytical and strategic problem-solving capabilities; Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or advanced degree preferred.
