About the Role

Bloomreach is seeking an exceptional Assistant Controller to join their Accounting team. This role will primarily focus on Corporate accounting in the US and will collaborate with the Director of Accounting in Europe to advance people, process, and technology for record-to-report and invoice-to-pay functions. A key responsibility will be transforming accounting operations for public company reporting readiness, including researching accounting standards and ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SEC standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a fast-growth corporate environment, a proven track record of building scalable organizations, and prior experience in public environments and public accounting.

What you'll do

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the accounting team, covering Accounts Payable, Payroll, Cash Applications, Inter-company transactions, and General Ledger accounting.
  • Manage international accountants and consolidations.
  • Oversee financial close and analysis, close timeline, audit, and regulatory compliance and reporting.
  • Plan and direct all accounting activities to ensure compliance with GAAP, SEC regulations, statutory guidelines, and internal financial policies.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize month-end close processes, focusing on automation, improved accuracy, and enhanced customer service for stakeholders.
  • Leverage technology to build scalable and sustainable processes, creating efficiencies, streamlining accounting operations, and improving employee experience.
  • Drive enhancements of Netsuite and integrations with relevant applications (Concur, HRIS, banking).
  • Develop, enhance, implement, and enforce accounting policies, internal controls, and procedures to improve overall operations and reduce business risks.
  • Provide financial guidance on technical accounting issues (e.g., ASC 340, ASC 350, ASC 718, ASC 805, ASC 842), prepare technical memos, and manage external auditor reviews.
  • Deliver internal training and updates on accounting issues as needed.
  • Support finance leadership in driving best practices related to corporate governance, ethical standards, compliance, and financial reporting.
  • Manage annual external audit and tax filings (Corporate Income Tax, Indirect Tax, Payroll, Property) for the US.
  • Support treasury activities, including weekly cash reports and cash requirements.
  • Build a high-performance accounting team through recruiting, training, and mentoring.
  • Establish strong relationships with inter-departmental peers (FP&A, Legal, HR, Procurement, Revenue accounting, Treasury) to serve as a key accounting resource.
  • Manage relationships with professional service firms, including outsourced accounting, audit, tax, and 409a valuation providers.
  • Assist with various projects and initiatives as required.

What you'll bring

  • CPA with at least 8+ years of post-qualification accounting experience in a rapidly growing technology company or public accounting.
  • Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of US GAAP and SEC Reporting.
  • IPO experience and SOX compliance are highly preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the initiative to research and resolve issues independently and influence decision-making.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Experience building processes and teams in a fast-growing, exciting, and agile business.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, including remote and international locations.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, be self-motivated, and manage time independently.

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary range for this position is $170,000-$220,000, plus bonus & RSU's. The actual pay offered will consider various factors like skills, qualifications, geographic location, accomplishments, experience, credentials, internal equity, and business needs, potentially varying from the listed range.
