Job Description
Korea Business Reporter
Bloomberg News is a global leader in financial and business news, renowned for breaking stories and delivering incisive analysis on financial markets and major corporations. We are committed to quality, accuracy, and providing actionable news for investors, constantly innovating our approach.
We are seeking a sharp and dynamic Korea Business Reporter to join our Asia Business team in Seoul, with a primary focus on corporate coverage. South Korea is a hub for innovation, home to influential companies across diverse sectors, from cutting-edge batteries to biotech and skincare.
As Korea navigates significant economic transformations driven by demographic shifts, technological advancements, and global market dynamics, the country's rapidly aging population and declining birth rate are prompting increased investment in automation, AI, and robotics to sustain productivity.
From automotive giants like Hyundai Motor to EV battery innovators LG Energy and SK On, and consumer powerhouses such as Lotte, Amorepacific, and APR, this role requires bringing compelling 'K-stories' to an international audience, at a time of unprecedented global influence for South Korea.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can deliver a wide range of stories, including exclusive scoops, fast-paced breaking news, quick-turnaround analysis, and in-depth features, all while collaborating effectively with various teams. While not strictly required, multimedia experience and data analysis skills are a significant plus, as Bloomberg reporters are expected to contribute to visual and audio platforms, and data-led journalism is a hallmark of our newsroom.
We'll Trust You To
- Build a deep corporate network and independently break exclusive news accurately.
- Collaborate with editors to develop story ideas while bringing fresh perspectives.
- Utilize data analysis to uncover unique story angles and innovate formats.
- Foster relationships across the newsroom for contextual and globally resonant coverage.
You'll Need To Have
- At least 3 years of recent, demonstrable experience in business journalism.
- Proven success working effectively within a real-time news environment.
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Korean languages.
- Ability to write quickly under pressure, maintaining precision and style.
- Capacity to cover local beats while understanding broader macro-environmental impacts in Asia.
- Flexibility and a genuine enthusiasm for fast-paced, constantly evolving work settings.
Life at Bloomberg is dynamic and engaging. We pride ourselves on being a truly global business with a diverse workforce, promoting an open, inclusive, and collaborative environment that empowers employees to excel. We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive healthcare, and robust programs supporting various life stages, including parental leave and generous retirement plans.
