About the Role
This unique role as an Economic Data News Editor sits at the nexus of journalism, economics, and technology within our Asia-Pacific Economic Data News team. You will primarily focus on Japan's economic data and releases, covering the numbers that drive global markets.
You will be instrumental in delivering rapid, accurate coverage of Japan’s key economic indicators, including GDP, inflation, and Bank of Japan decisions, to a worldwide audience. This position involves close collaboration with colleagues in Tokyo and across the region. You will directly influence how millions perceive Japan's economic trajectory and key data, operating at the forefront of AI and automation in real-time news.
We'll Trust You To
- Report on key economic indicators with speed, accuracy, and insight.
- Survey economists to compile forecasts for major releases across Asia.
- Collaborate with reporters, data analysts, product managers, and technologists to enhance coverage and processes.
- Utilize and experiment with AI tools and automation to improve reporting efficiency and richness.

You'll Need To Have
- At least 3 years of experience in journalism, economics, finance, data analysis, or product development.
- Working knowledge of Excel VBA.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Japanese.
- Ability to maintain composure and precision under deadline pressure.
