Over the past few years, multiple companies, platforms, and development teams have been brought together under one organization, resulting in a strong portfolio of SaaS products for the insurance and mortgage sectors. The next step is to further strengthen the technical foundation of these products and systematically leverage new technologies, including AI.

Role Overview

As CTO, you will guide this development. You will determine the organization's technological direction, strengthen the architecture of our platforms, and ensure AI becomes an integral part of our products, development processes, and decision-making. This way, you ensure technology not only supports but actively contributes to innovation, scalability, and new opportunities for our customers.

What You Will Do

• As CTO, you will determine how our software and technology will develop in the coming years.
• You will establish the technological direction for our products and platforms and translate it into clear architectural choices, development standards, and technological priorities.
• You will ensure our software remains scalable, secure, and maintainable as usage grows.
• A crucial part of your assignment is the systematic application of AI within our organization.
• You will develop the strategy for how AI is deployed in our products, processes, and decision-making, and ensure teams truly embrace this technology in their daily work.
• You will connect technological developments with product strategy and commercial opportunities, translating them into concrete choices for our products, organization, and investments.
• You will ensure an R&D organization where teams can collaborate effectively, take ownership, and where there is continuous attention for workload, quality, and job satisfaction.

Your Responsibilities

• Determining the technological direction of Blinqx Verzekering & Hypotheek and translating this direction into a clear roadmap for our software products.
• Developing a strategy for applying AI within our products, development processes, and internal working methods.
• Stimulating AI adoption within development teams and ensuring new technologies are effectively applied in daily work.
• Establishing and monitoring architectural principles and technological standards for a scalable and secure software environment.
• Monitoring the technical quality of our platforms and actively steering on topics such as scalability, security, and technical debt.
• Structuring architecture, development standards, and delivery processes within the R&D organization.
• Leading and developing an organization of approximately 70 engineers and technical specialists, together with the Head of Engineering.
• Ensuring a well-functioning R&D organization with attention to collaboration, workload, and sustainable employability of teams.
• Translating product and commercial objectives into technological choices and development priorities.
• Substantiating and prioritizing technology investment decisions based on product strategy, risks, and business impact.
• Utilizing technology and data to create better insights for product development and strategic decision-making.
• Advising the CEO and management team on technological developments, investments, and strategic choices.

About the Team

Within Blinqx Verzekering & Hypotheek, an R&D organization of about 70 professionals works on multiple SaaS products for the insurance and mortgage sector. The teams consist of software engineers, architects, QA specialists, product owners, and platform specialists. Together, they develop and maintain software used daily by thousands of professionals in the sector. As CTO, you will provide direction to this organization and work closely with the Head of Engineering and the product organization. You will be part of a management team of seven professionals where technology, product, commerce, and operations jointly determine the course.

What You Bring

• Experience as the ultimate technological responsible person within a software or SaaS organization.
• Experience managing an R&D organization of substantial size (preferably 50+ engineers).
• A strong technical foundation and broad knowledge of software development, cloud infrastructure, security, and data architecture.
• Experience applying new technologies, including AI, within software products or development organizations.
• The ability to link technological choices to product strategy, market developments, and business objectives.
• Experience designing and monitoring scalable software architectures.
• A leadership style that provides direction while allowing teams autonomy and responsibility, with attention to collaboration, workload, and sustainable performance.
• The ability to translate technological vision into concrete choices and execution.
• You communicate clearly with both technical teams and management, making complex matters accessible.
