The Role: Software Engineering Manager, AI Platform Development

As a Senior Vice President, Software Engineering Manager of the AI Platform Development team, you will be a pivotal leader guiding the strategy, development, and delivery of Blackstone’s AI Platform. This platform is crucial for supporting the firm’s advanced development efforts. In partnership with the Lead Architect, you will provide strategic direction, technical expertise, and operational oversight, ensuring the successful execution of all projects and initiatives. Your role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, cultivate a culture of excellence, and contribute significantly to Blackstone’s sustained growth and success. As a senior leader, you will also be responsible for guiding the implementation of key technical solutions across the AI/ML landscape and mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the AI Platform development team, focusing on delivering shared AI/ML services, infrastructure, and tooling.
• Partner with the Lead Architect to define and execute the vision for the AI Platform, including Agent and Tool Support.
• Deliver standardized, self-service platform capabilities that adhere to stringent security, risk, and compliance standards.
• Contribute to the Platform Architecture function by defining reference architectures, standards, and guardrails.
• Collaborate with data, cloud, security, risk, and application teams to ensure platform alignment and robust control.
• Establish comprehensive engineering standards for reliability, resilience, observability, and controlled change.
• Build, develop, and retain high-performing engineering talent within the team.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering experience, demonstrating strong command of Python, C#, Typescript, and other relevant technologies.
• Proven experience in a leadership role, including managing and mentoring teams of software engineers and technical professionals.
• Strong technical background in cloud-native architectures (AWS + Azure), distributed systems, and shared services.
• Deep understanding of software development principles, architecture, and best practices.
• Demonstrated product mindset for internal platforms and developer enablement.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience engaging and influencing senior executives and business stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity to drive results.
• Experience in the financial services industry or a related field is preferred.
• Bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
