About the role

Role Overview

We are seeking a hands-on, execution-oriented Vice President to work directly with the Chief Strategic Advisor to Aladdin on identifying, exploring, and applying AI and new technologies and tools to a broad set of business problems at BlackRock. This role is focused on experimentation, learning, and prototyping rather than ownership of said tools or platform. The prototypes may lead to production implementation which will be done through the appropriate existing teams at BlackRock. The successful candidate may be exposed to a wide range of business problems—spanning investing, operations, client service, distribution, and corporate functions—and will help brainstorm, prototype, and demonstrate how AI can improve productivity and unlock new business opportunities. The position will sit within the broader Portfolio Analytics Group (PAG) team to enable collaboration and sharing of best practices, while reporting both to Strategic Advisor and PAG.

Key Responsibilities

Applied AI & Problem Solving
  • Partner with senior leadership to explore AI-driven opportunities across the firm, with exposure to a wide range of business challenges.
  • Independently prototype, test, and iterate on AI-enabled solutions using existing firm infrastructure and the latest tools.
  • Translate business questions and pain points into practical proofs of concept with tangible business impact.
  • Embrace an experimental mindset—rapid iteration, learning from results, and adjusting direction as needed.
Collaboration & Influence
  • Engage with business teams across all parts of the firm to brainstorm and refine use cases.
  • Influence adoption by demonstrating value through working examples.
  • Serve as a connector between business teams and technical partners, helping shape ideas and approaches.
Knowledge Sharing & Enablement
  • Capture and share learnings, patterns, and best practices across the organization.
  • Contribute to an internal community of practice around AI and emerging technologies.
  • Stay current on AI, fintech, and productivity trends and proactively surface ideas relevant to the firm.

Qualifications & Experience

  • B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline preferred, though technical fluency and hands-on comfort with technology is key.
  • 4+ years of professional experience, with proven experience in using technology to deliver innovative and analytical solutions.
  • Experience in financial services, investing, fintech, or consulting is helpful but not required.
  • Deep technical fluency in Python with hands-on experience building scalable, production-grade services.
  • Strong knowledge of agentic design patterns, such as planning/execution loops, routing/specialist agents, retrieval + tool orchestration, verification/reflection, and human-in-the-loop approvals using frameworks like Google ADK, LangChain and LangGraph or similar.
  • Ability to learn new skills and concepts quickly, highly adaptable.
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills in working with a diverse set of stakeholders.
