Job Description

About This Role at BlackRock

BlackRock is one of the world’s leading asset management firms, and Aladdin® is the firm’s end-to-end operating system for investment professionals. Aladdin enables users to see their whole portfolio, understand risk exposure, and act with precision. As the central nervous system powering investment decisions, Aladdin is a significant technology business with strong growth aspirations.

The Aladdin Platform team is responsible for engineering and operating the core service layer that powers Aladdin. This team is crucial for enabling the delivery of products and features for BlackRock and its global financial institution clients. With accelerating growth, the Platform Team focuses on speed of product delivery, execution predictability, and quality. They manage foundational products including the Developer Platform, Core Infrastructure, and Mission Control Platform. The Platform product management office drives the development of well-defined Platform products with clear, outcome-oriented roadmaps and efficient delivery.

We are seeking a passionate, technically fluent Product Manager to lead internal AI enablement initiatives for software development teams. In this role, you will focus on developing, maintaining, and evolving AI-driven tools that empower engineers and technologists throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). You’ll define the product strategy for integrating AI into developer workflows, covering intelligent coding assistants, automated code reviews, AI-enhanced testing, and deployment processes. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in developer-centric environments, understands software build and delivery, and is eager to leverage AI to transform these processes. You will ensure our development environment is cutting-edge, efficient, and tailored to engineer needs. Success requires listening to developers, anticipating AI solutions for their pain points, and collaborating effectively to deliver innovative solutions. As a trusted product leader, you will own the AI toolchain roadmap and guide feature delivery to fundamentally improve developer productivity and software quality.

You Are

  • Passionate about AI in developer tools: You have a deep interest in AI/ML potential to improve engineering workflows, staying informed about new technologies and eager to apply them.
  • Deeply user-focused: You empathize with software developers’ challenges and are driven to make their jobs easier with effective tools.
  • Technically savvy: You have a solid grasp of SDLC, version control, CI/CD, and deployment practices.
  • A strategic thinker and executor: You can define a compelling vision for AI-enabled developer platforms and meticulously plan execution details.
  • A self-starter and problem-solver: You take initiative, handle ambiguity, proactively research options, and drive solutions.
  • Collaborative and influential: You excel in cross-functional teams, building trust and influencing without direct authority, advocating for both developers and business goals.
  • Adaptable and curious: You quickly learn new domains and technologies, making informed product decisions outside your comfort zone.
  • Outcome-oriented: You define success metrics upfront, push for measurable impact, and hold yourself and the team accountable for delivering value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Vision & Strategy: Define and refine the product vision for AI enablement in our developer platform, developing a clear strategy and multi-phase roadmap aligned with engineering needs and business objectives.
  • Use Case Discovery & Requirements Gathering: Engage with engineers, tech leads, and architect stakeholders to identify high-impact AI use cases for developer productivity.
  • Product Specifications & Documentation: Translate insights and requirements into clear product artifacts, continuously updating documentation.
  • Integrate AI into Developer Workflows: Guide seamless integration of AI solutions into existing developer workflows and tools, iterating based on pilot user feedback.
  • Platform Reliability & Governance: Oversee non-functional aspects of AI capabilities, partnering with infrastructure and DevOps teams for scalable, performant, and secure AI tools.
  • User Adoption & Training: Drive high adoption and satisfaction of AI tools, developing onboarding programs, tutorials, and evangelizing success stories.
  • Feedback Collection & Iteration: Establish feedback loops with users and stakeholders, maintaining a continuous improvement mindset with frequent enhancements.
  • Stakeholder Management & Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for AI developer enablement, regularly updating leadership and securing buy-in from cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Industry Awareness & Innovation: Stay abreast of the rapidly evolving AI/ML landscape, evaluating new technologies and making build vs. buy recommendations.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Product Management Experience: 4+ years of product management experience in a technical software environment, with a total of 6–8 years of professional experience in technology.
  • AI/ML Familiarity: Strong familiarity with artificial intelligence and machine learning concepts and trends.
  • Understanding of Developer Workflows & SDLC: Solid understanding of how software developers work, including version control (Git), code review, CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps culture.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical skills with a data-driven approach, able to identify trends and root causes from usage data.
  • Communication & Documentation: Exceptional written and verbal communication, able to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Proven ability to lead through influence, work collaboratively, manage a product backlog, and coordinate across multiple teams.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (required) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AI/ML Product Experience: Direct experience bringing an AI or ML-powered product to market (or internal users) with tangible impact.
  • Deep Technical Knowledge: Deeper familiarity with modern AI/ML tools, frameworks, and architectures.
  • Cloud & Scalable Systems: Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) and scalable infrastructure for AI-driven applications.
  • Developer Platform/Tools Background: Prior experience with products for developers (IDEs, SDKs, CI/CD systems, monitoring tools, collaboration platforms).
  • Strategic Vision and Execution: Ability to define long-term product roadmaps intersecting with emerging technology trends.
  • Advanced Education: A Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.

This AI Technology Product Manager role is pivotal to how our engineering teams will build the next generation of software. You will shape a platform that leverages AI to make development faster, smarter, and more intuitive. If you are excited about empowering developers with AI-driven tools, love solving complex technical problems, and can balance vision with execution, we’d love to hear from you.
