Job Description

About Birdie

At Birdie, we’re reimagining care for older adults. We’re building the technology that powers the future of home healthcare, empowering care teams with tools to deliver better, more dignified care, and enabling older people to thrive in their own homes for longer. Our all-in-one solution powers millions of care visits every month, equipping care providers with the tools they need to deliver exceptional, efficient care.

We’re not here to tinker at the edges. We’re here to radically transform a broken system.

That’s why we’ve built an all-in-one platform that supported over 60 million care visits and enabled care for 116,000 individuals in 2025, and we continue to grow our impact. We’re scaling fast, but staying true to our purpose. That’s why we’re proud to be a B Corp, using business as a force for good.

Founded in 2017, Birdie is backed by world-class investors like Index Ventures, Sofina and Omers. In 2023, we ranked #6 in the Deloitte Fast 50, making us one of the fastest-growing tech companies in the UK. You can check out more about our impact and recognition here.

But speed isn’t the point. Impact is.

Your Mission as Head of Data

As Head of Data at Birdie, your mission is to turn data into one of our most powerful assets: rebuilding the platform that powers how we understand care, and creating analytics products that give our customers the insight they need to deliver better outcomes for older adults.

How You Will Contribute

  • Own and drive our customer-facing analytics product, working closely with the product team to design and ship data features that create real value for care providers.
  • Lead the modernisation of our data platform, making architectural decisions that make our platform reliable, scalable and fit for external use.
  • Define and communicate a data strategy that connects platform investment to product outcomes and earns buy-in from senior stakeholders across the business.
  • Build and lead a high-performing data team, establishing clear ways of working that protect focus and reduce reactive, ad-hoc demand.
  • Act as the bridge between technical data capability and product thinking, ensuring what we build is both technically sound and genuinely useful to the people using it.

You'll Thrive Here If...

  • You have designed or materially rebuilt a cloud data platform and can make architectural tradeoffs without needing a technical translator.
  • You are deeply comfortable with a modern cloud data stack, have hands-on experience with tools like Snowflake, DBT, and Looker, and can make confident decisions about when to evolve, replace, or retire them.
  • You have shipped analytics or data features to external users and understand what it takes to make data trustworthy and useful for non-technical customers.
  • You are equally comfortable presenting a data strategy to leadership and getting into the detail of a data model with your team.
  • You build alignment through credibility and communication rather than authority, and you enjoy working across product, engineering and commercial teams.
  • You are motivated by mission-driven work and want the data you build to ultimately improve the lives of older adults and the care teams who support them.

Imposter syndrome is real — and we don't expect you to tick every box. If you're excited about our mission and think you could make a difference here, we want to hear from you.
