Role Overview: Specialty Sales Consultant, Idiopathic Hypersomnia

The Specialty Sales Consultant for Market Development is responsible for the direct promotion of Jazz Pharmaceuticals' products and the cultivation of business relationships with therapeutic specialists within a designated territory. This role is a vital part of the commercial field team within The Sleep Business Unit, reporting directly to a Regional Sales Manager. The consultant will implement Jazz Pharmaceuticals' marketing strategies and tactics to achieve both short-term and long-term objectives within a developing market, specifically focusing on Idiopathic Hypersomnia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Educate physicians and other healthcare professionals on Jazz Pharmaceuticals' products and disease education in Sleep Medicine, providing current information on disease states and approved indications.
  • Achieve assigned sales forecasts and targets.
  • Execute comprehensive call plans for HCP engagement, utilizing various approaches including in-person calls, virtual calls, and multi-channel/digital platforms.
  • Prepare detailed business and territory tactical plans for an assigned list of targets across a large geographical territory.
  • Participate in organizing and facilitating meetings for medical and product information exchange, adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze assigned target lists to understand prescribing and purchasing decision processes and identify deviations from national trends.
  • Implement approved plans within established timelines and allocated budgets.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Present a positive and professional image of Jazz Pharmaceuticals, ensuring all activities align with ethical pharmaceutical marketing policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all relevant legal and regulatory guidelines, including the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, Prescription Drug Marketing Act, Pharma Code, and OIG guidelines.

Essential Qualifications

  • Strong self-motivation and resilience to navigate challenges in a new and evolving market.
  • Proven experience in the successful execution of product launches in new or developing markets.
  • Proficiency in utilizing multi-channel digital platforms and effective virtual selling tools such as Zoom/Teams.
  • Ability to identify and build strong relationships with office stakeholders and influencers to enhance call points and access.
  • Demonstrated capability to improve call access in targeted accounts with restricted access policies.
  • Effective use of company-provided resources, including promotional speaker programs and disease roundtable programs, for product and disease state education.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners like MSL, Managed Market, and Access and Reimbursement teams to meet the needs of healthcare professionals and patients compliantly.
  • Strong Territory Management skills to develop and execute effective action plans across a large geographic area.
  • Adept at quickly learning and building competency in pharmaceutical product(s), competitor product(s), and applicable disease states.
  • Understanding of the payer landscape and ability to discuss managed care criteria for high-value specialty products is desired.
  • Experience in planning and executing push and pull-through strategies for new products in live and/or virtual settings.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Healthcare/Pharmaceutical sales experience is preferred, though not strictly required.
  • Ability to effectively learn and master product knowledge for pharmaceutical and competitor products, as well as relevant disease states.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivation and a strong ability to thrive in a team environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% to meet territorial requirements.

Education

A four-year college/university degree is required.

Compensation and Benefits

For US-based candidates, the full base pay range for this role is $120,000.00 - $180,000.00. Individual compensation is determined by qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and job knowledge. In addition to base pay, successful candidates may be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation and discretionary equity grants. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k retirement savings plan, and flexible paid vacation.
