About This Role

The Rare Disease Family Access Manager position at Biogen focuses on being the patient-facing expert for Friedreich's Ataxia, engaging with cross-functional stakeholders to support patients in starting and maintaining rare disease therapies. The role is responsible for resolving logistical and non-clinical barriers in treatment initiation and ongoing therapy by collaborating with Account Executives, Market Access & Reimbursement, and Case Management teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support patients and families through therapy access steps, including education and site coordination.
  • Act as a patient advocate in cross-functional meetings and case planning.
  • Identify and resolve access barriers such as insurance, financial or site issues.
  • Collaborate with Market Access & Reimbursement to ensure proper reimbursement and payer engagement.
  • Educate on product, Biogen patient services, and provide advocacy support.
  • Build local and national networks through advocacy events and conferences.
  • Maintain deep understanding of rare disease portfolio and Biogen resources.

Qualifications

Applicants should have 5+ years’ experience in healthcare or biotech with at least 3 years in account management, sales, or field reimbursement. Experience with rare diseases, physician-administered drugs, and reimbursement processes is essential; case management and direct patient support are preferred. A BS is required, with a master’s degree as a plus. Must be willing to travel 60% of the time and possess a valid driver’s license.

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary ranges between $151,000 and $202,000, with additional short and long-term incentives, comprehensive benefits including health insurances, wellness programs, paid time off, 401(k) matching, employee stock purchase plan, tuition reimbursement, and more.
