Data Center Technician - BGIS Careers
BGIS is looking for a Data Center Technician to join the team in West Jordan, UT. This is a temporary role with a focus on supporting Tier II, front-line IT and network infrastructure within the Data Center.
Responsibilities
Installations and Troubleshooting: Participate in team efforts, respond to scheduled and emergency dispatches, complete rack & stack of servers and network equipment, install, dress and connect fiber and copper cables, replace hot-swappable components, provide software support under direction, and perform visual inspection and status reporting.
Safety: Adhere to safety policies, lift equipment as needed, use ladders and hand tools, and provide security escort services. Ensure compliance with established SLAs and performance indicators.
Asset Management and Documentation: Receive, record, and store equipment shipments and document work in ticketing and asset management systems.
Additional tasks may be assigned as required.
Required Education, Knowledge, and Abilities
Minimum 2 years’ experience with IT and networking systems in a Data Center or similar environment. Familiarity with Colocation, Managed Services, Data Center architectures, security and audit standards is expected. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Visio, AutoCAD, and a basic knowledge of Windows or UNIX/Linux systems along with TCP/IP networking is required. Strong troubleshooting, customer service, communication, and teamwork skills are essential.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Regular physical activity including walking through Data Center, lifting up to 75 pounds, working at heights, and responding to off hour emergency calls. Personal transportation is required for off-site visits.
