Administrative Assistant II - Orthopedic Practice
Join the growing Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) team and make a difference in people's lives. As an Administrative Assistant II, you will play a key role in the daily operations of a busy orthopedic practice.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, oversee, and organize daily operations in a busy orthopedic practice.
- Support day-to-day front desk operations under the direction of a physician, manager, or director.
- Provide phone support, perform initial patient intake, and collect patient insurance data and demographics.
- Enter all required data into electronic health records (EHR), ensuring meaningful use and quality requirements are met.
- Collect co-pays, obtain necessary patient signatures, and scan insurance cards and driver’s licenses into EHR.
- Perform surgical, consultation, and ancillary testing scheduling for surgeons and Physician Assistants.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and ensure necessary referrals/pre-certifications and records are in place.
- Prepare the next day’s paperwork and schedules; confirm provider schedules and adjust as needed.
- Assist with mail pick-up, delivery, separation, distribution, and scanning.
- Prepare and submit office billing in a timely manner.
- Enter orders in EMR as needed.
- Undertake other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a medical or surgical office front desk setting is required.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and EMR systems.
- Experience with patient intake, data entry, and scheduling.
- Familiarity with insurance verification, referrals, and pre-certifications.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
