Role Overview

The UKI Infrastructure and Platform team provides core services to our product and technology teams, enabling them to be independent in delivery and execution. This Engineering Manager - Flutter UKI role combines deep cloud infrastructure expertise with strong leadership and stakeholder management to drive operational excellence, strategic prioritization, and the development of core AWS capabilities that underpin the company’s hosting strategy program. You will collaborate closely with product engineers, infrastructure peers, solution architects, agile delivery leads, owners, and product managers to ensure we provide high-quality solutions that allow our consumers to move faster.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Leading a team of platform engineers to successfully advance the AWS platform strategy.
• Managing the performance of your team members, ensuring they understand role expectations, and supporting their personal development to grow skills.
• Managing the delivery of strategic projects and developer experience features, working with our Agile Delivery Lead, through agile methodologies and ceremonies.
• Engaging with key stakeholders and consumers to ensure we deliver what’s important to Flutter UKI.

What You’ll Bring

• Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, with deep experience in managing and scaling cloud platforms.
• Proven track record of leading and managing engineering teams, ideally within Infrastructure, platform, or cloud domains.
• A proven track record of delivering projects via Agile principles.
• Ability to prioritize and focus on the most important task.
• Strong people leadership background - skilled in building, motivating, and developing high-performing teams.
• Strong CI/CD knowledge, demonstrating experience in automated deployments managed via Infrastructure as Code.
• Motivation to continuously improve.
• Strong communication skills, with an ability to translate complex technical problems and solutions appropriately for the audience.
• Ability to clearly set priorities and focus on what is the most important task at hand.
• A leader of people and a mentor to engineers within your squad, you should be on point for advice and guidance. You should be a team player who works collaboratively to achieve the goals of the squad.
• Ability to work across multi-location and cross-functional teams.
• Work with your peer Engineering Managers to ensure resourcing, priority, and delivery commitments are aligned.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Platform Engineering team through effective coaching, mentoring, and career enablement – fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Partner with the Head of Platform Engineering to shape the strategic roadmap, drive platform-wide initiatives, aligning delivery with organizational priorities.
• Hold operational accountability for the Cloud ecosystem, ensuring platform reliability, scalability, and consistent alignment with business requirements.
• Ensure on-call rotation and incident management practices meet operational excellence standards and support high service availability.
• Deliver customer-first initiatives on the product roadmap by aligning engineering priorities with customer and business value.
• Ensure delivery commitments are met through proactive planning, clear prioritization, and data-driven execution.
• Engage with stakeholders across product, architecture, and delivery functions to communicate roadmap progress, surface dependencies, and gather actionable feedback.
• Champion engineering excellence, process improvement, a culture of accountability, inclusion, and empowerment within the team.
