Overview
Our State Government Practice Group (SGPG) is seeking an experienced Organizational Development Consultant with deep expertise in organizational change management (OCM), training strategy, instructional design, leadership development, training facilitation, and individual coaching. This role will shape and deliver high-impact learning solutions that strengthen organizational capability, improve leader effectiveness, and support workforce development across state government agencies. The Organizational Development Consultant will also lead OCM services on behalf of state government agencies for their major initiatives and IT projects.
You will leverage your OD and learning expertise to help clients enhance employee performance, build leadership bench strength, modernize talent development-focused training programs, and implement sustainable learning strategies. You will bring strong consulting skills, excellent facilitation capabilities, and the ability to create engaging, outcomes-driven learning experiences.
You will apply your OCM knowledge and experience to support state government staff members with embracing and adopting changes resulting from various initiatives and IT projects. You will bring a mix of expert-level OCM capabilities, exceptional organizational and self-management qualities, training skills, strong leadership and teamwork capabilities, and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Travel expectation: Approximately 50% travel to client sites.
You Will
Leadership Training
- Develop and execute comprehensive training strategies and learning roadmaps aligned to organizational goals and workforce needs.
- Conduct organizational and training needs assessments to identify skills gaps, leadership capability needs, and opportunities for competency development.
- Lead the design and development of instructional materials, including curricula, e-learning modules, workshops, facilitator guides, and participant resources grounded in adult learning principles.
- Facilitate high-quality training sessions, workshops, and leadership development programs for diverse audiences.
- Provide executive and leadership coaching, supporting leaders in strengthening skills, navigating change, and improving overall performance.
- Partner with clients and internal teams to co-create OD interventions, training content, and leadership development pathways.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, helping to ensure clarity of expectations, quality of delivery, and consistent progress updates.
- Track, evaluate, and report on training outcomes, coaching progress, and OD milestones to internal and client interested parties.
- Identify and address risks, issues, or barriers related to learning adoption, leadership engagement, and training implementation.
OCM
- Develop and execute OCM strategies appropriate to each client’s environment.
- Develop and execute comprehensive OCM plans, and related subsidiary plans (including training plans).
- Lead and execute various OCM activities and work in collaboration with other OCM/project team members to execute various OCM activities to help impacted parties embrace and adopt change.
- Manage and build strong relationships with individuals involved with and impacted by change.
- Manage and report the status and progress of assigned OCM activities to the client.
- Develop and conduct OCM interventions and events.
- Assist in developing, reviewing, and/or discussing OCM-related deliverables.
- Provide frequent, clear, and consistent communication to the client, interested/involved/impacted parties, vendors, and OCM/project team members.
- Help to identify and address OCM-related risks and issues.
As an SGPG team member, you will:
- Support business development efforts by helping scope training-related engagements, contributing to proposals, and sharing learning and development subject-matter expertise.
- Contribute to growth of our business through thought leadership, such as writing training-focused content, presenting at conferences, and/or participating in client development meetings.
You Have
- A minimum of seven (7) years of experience developing and delivering training strategy and programs, leadership development initiatives, instructional design solutions, or executive coaching engagements.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience implementing OCM strategies/practices using an industry standard change management framework (for IT system implementation projects a plus).
- Formal education or certifications in OD/OCM, instructional design, coaching, learning and development, or related fields preferred.
- Deep expertise in OCM and at least two of the following areas: training strategy, instructional design, leadership development, executive coaching, and/or training facilitation.
- Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and facilitate learning programs that meet diverse learner needs and deliver measurable outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, execute, and monitor OCM activities.
- Demonstrated ability to measure change readiness, continually reinforce change, and address resistance to change.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and conduct OCM trainings and presentations.
- Strong coaching, facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple assignments, balance competing priorities, and deliver high-quality results.
- Strong writing, presentation, and communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts simply and effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including MS Project.
Compensation Details
The base salary range targeted for this role is $110,000 - $130,000. This salary range represents BerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications in excess of the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply, and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
