Job Description

About Bending Spoons

At Bending Spoons, we’re striving to build one of the all-time great companies. A company that serves a huge number of customers, where team members grow to their full potential, and which functions at unparalleled levels of effectiveness and efficiency. We aim to create extraordinary value for shareowners while adhering to high ethical standards.

Our strategy involves acquiring digital businesses with untapped potential and leveraging our platform—comprising our expertise, technologies, data, brand, talents, and company culture—to maximize their success. We then reinvest proceeds to enhance our platform and acquire new businesses, combining an investor’s attention to capital allocation with a hands-on operational approach.

For a talented, driven, and collaborative individual, working at Bending Spoons as a UX/UI Designer is an exceptional opportunity to learn, make a significant impact, and accelerate your career growth.

A Few Examples of Your Responsibilities

  • Help shape outstanding user experiences and impact the success of our products by creating flawless UI and UX designs, from conceptualization to delivery.
  • Take a human-first approach to designing products, ensuring they delight users by being both effective and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Utilize prototyping tools to ensure intuitive designs and explore innovative interaction methods.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers and software engineers to propose new features and improve the quality of mobile and desktop apps.
  • Focus on user testing and research to keep customers at the core of all product designs.
  • Work with engineers to find efficient trade-offs between high-value user solutions and implementation complexity.
  • Leverage usage data to evaluate design impact and apply learnings to subsequent iterations.

What We Look For

  • Reasoning ability: You can solve complex problems from first principles, structure ideas sharply, resist biases, and focus on critical details.
  • Drive: You are extremely ambitious, demonstrating initiative, effort, and tenacity. You take deep responsibility for your work and consistently raise your own bar.
  • Team spirit: You contribute generously, support the best ideas (not just your own), are always willing to help, and are reliable, honest, and transparent.
  • Proficiency in English: You read, write, and speak English proficiently.

What We Offer

  • Incredibly talented, entrepreneurial teams: Work in small, result-oriented, autonomous teams with some of the brightest people in your field.
  • An exceptional opportunity for growth: We hire individuals of outstanding potential and position them to thrive. Spooners in their 20s lead multi-million dollar products, and you can play an essential role in major projects.
  • Competitive pay and access to equity: Annual salaries vary by location and experience, with significant growth potential. Permanent contract holders can receive company equity at a discounted price. Relocating to Italy may offer a 50% tax cut.
  • All these benefits: Flexible hours, remote working options, unlimited learning and training support, top-tier health insurance, a comprehensive relocation package, generous parental support, and a yearly retreat to a stunning location. We ensure each Spooner has the conditions to do their best work.

Commitment & Contract

This is a permanent or fixed-term, full-time position.

Location

You can work from Milan (Italy), London (UK), Madrid (Spain), Warsaw (Poland), or remotely from selected countries. We recommend spending your first few months in our Milan office to quickly absorb the company culture and build trust with your team, with generous travel and accommodation assistance provided.

The Selection Process

Our screening prioritizes verifiable signals of excellence regardless of seniority. If you like the role and believe you can excel, don’t self-reject due to perceived lack of experience. If you pass screening, you’ll complete challenging, multi-hour tests that may involve unfamiliar problems. We set a high bar and ensure we find the right candidate, so positions may remain open or be reposted.

Before You Apply

If you’ve applied previously without an offer, we recommend waiting at least one year before reapplying. Bending Spoons is a demanding, ambitious environment with high standards, leading to extraordinary learning and growth but requiring significant commitment. If this role excites you and you're ready to give your best, we encourage you to apply.
