Job Description
About Bending Spoons
At Bending Spoons, we’re striving to build one of the all-time great companies. Our objective is to serve a huge number of customers, foster team member growth to full potential, operate at unparalleled levels of effectiveness and efficiency, create extraordinary value for shareowners, and adhere to high ethical standards. Our strategy involves acquiring digital businesses with untapped potential and leveraging our platform—comprising expertise, technologies, data, brand, talents, and company culture—to maximize their success. We then reinvest proceeds into enhancing our platform and acquiring new businesses, combining an investor’s focus on capital allocation with an operator’s hands-on approach.
For talented, driven, and collaborative individuals, working at Bending Spoons offers an exceptional opportunity for learning, significant impact, and accelerated career progression. That’s our promise to such a candidate.
Your Impact as a UX/UI Designer
- Help shape outstanding user experiences and impact the success of our products by creating flawless UI and UX designs, from conceptualization to delivery. You’ll take a human-first approach, ensuring products delight users by being effective and aesthetically pleasing.
- Make use of prototyping tools to ensure designs are intuitive and to explore new, innovative ways of designing interactions.
- Work closely with product managers and software engineers to propose new features and improve the quality of both mobile and desktop apps.
- Focus on user testing and research to ensure customers are always at the core of our product designs.
- Find, together with engineers, the most efficient trade-off between high-value solutions for users and the complexity of implementation.
- Leverage usage data to evaluate the impact of your designs, applying learnings to subsequent iterations.
What We Look For
- Reasoning ability: Given the necessary knowledge, you can solve complex problems. You think from first principles, structure ideas sharply, resist biases, and identify critical details.
- Drive: You are extremely ambitious, with initiative, effort, and tenacity matching your ambition. You feel deeply responsible for your work and hold yourself to a high—and rising—bar.
- Team spirit: You give generously without expectation of return, support the best idea, are happy to help your team, and are reliable, honest, and transparent.
- Proficiency in English: You read, write, and speak proficiently in English.
What We Offer
- Incredibly talented, entrepreneurial teams: You’ll work in small, results-oriented, autonomous teams alongside some of the brightest people in your field.
- An exceptional opportunity for growth: We hire individuals of outstanding potential and prioritize placing them in ideal positions to thrive. Spooners in their 20s lead products worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and you could soon play an essential role in major projects.
- Competitive pay and access to equity: We offer competitive annual salaries (e.g., typically €66,065 elsewhere in Europe for early career, or €107,837 to €188,848 for experienced candidates in Europe outside London). Compensation varies by location and expected impact, growing rapidly. Exceptional candidates may receive higher compensation. Permanent contract holders can receive pay in company equity at a discounted price. Relocating to Italy may offer a 50% tax cut.
- All. These. Benefits: Flexible hours, remote working, unlimited backing for learning and training, top-of-the-market health insurance, a rich relocation package, generous parental support, and a yearly retreat to a stunning location. We help each Spooner set up the conditions for their best work.
Commitment & Contract
This is a permanent or fixed-term, full-time position.
Location
The role can be based in Milan (Italy), London (UK), Madrid (Spain), Warsaw (Poland), or remote in selected countries. We recommend spending your first few months working from our Milan office to rapidly absorb our company culture and build trust with your new teammates. We’ll support you with generous travel and accommodation assistance for this period.
The Selection Process
Our screening process prioritizes verifiable signals of excellence, regardless of seniority. Don’t self-reject if you feel you lack experience or have an “imperfect” CV. If you pass screening, you’ll complete challenging tests that may involve unfamiliar problems and take several hours. We set a high bar and will only extend an offer when confident we’ve found the right candidate, which means roles may remain open for months. We consider all applicants and provide reasonable accommodations for disabilities.
Before You Apply
If you’ve applied before and didn't receive an offer, we recommend waiting at least one year before reapplying. Bending Spoons is a demanding, highly ambitious environment with high standards, leading to extraordinary learning and career growth but requiring significant commitment.
