The Role: Graduate Privacy Counsel

As a Graduate Privacy Counsel, you will play a crucial role in ensuring Bending Spoons adheres to the highest privacy standards, particularly within our AI and product development. Your responsibilities will include:

• Partnering with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, and Security, to provide strategic privacy advice, embed privacy-by-design principles, and translate regulatory requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Proactively identifying privacy risks and opportunities, helping to shape privacy-compliant tools, features, and workflows early in the development process, and promoting continuous improvement in data protection practices.
• Managing all privacy-related legal work, including drafting and reviewing data processing agreements (DPAs), privacy policies, legitimate interest assessments (LIAs), and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), to ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
• Conducting internal and external privacy audits and overseeing relationships with external privacy consultants and legal advisors, coordinating inputs across business functions and ensuring alignment on key decisions.
• Monitoring evolving privacy regulations, case law, and best practices, and communicating relevant insights internally to ensure ongoing compliance and strategic alignment.

For candidates with considerable relevant experience, salaries range from £112,189 to £250,512 in London, and €107,837 to €188,848 elsewhere in Europe. Compensation varies by location and expected impact, growing rapidly with experience and contributions. Exceptional individuals may receive compensation beyond usual ranges. Permanent contract holders can also receive company equity at a discounted price. Relocating to Italy may offer a 50% tax cut.

Commitment & Location

This is a Permanent or fixed-term, full-time position. While you are welcome to work from our offices in Milan (Italy), London (UK), Madrid (Spain), Warsaw (Poland), or remotely from approved countries, we recommend spending your first few months in our Milan office to absorb our company culture and build trust with your new teammates. We provide generous travel and accommodation assistance for this initial period.

The Selection Process

Our screening process prioritizes verifiable signals of excellence over seniority. If you like the role and believe you can excel, don’t hesitate to apply, even if you feel you lack experience or have an “imperfect” CV. Successful applicants will complete one or more challenging, multi-hour tests. We maintain a high bar and will not extend an offer until we are confident we have found the right candidate, which may mean a job remains open for months.
