Job Description

About the Warehouse Supervisor Role

Programmed has an excellent opportunity for a Warehouse Supervisor to support the Project Logistics team with one of our major national clients, located in Mayfield. This role is crucial for managing the daily load-out of high-value project cargo, requiring strict sequencing that frequently changes, sometimes at short notice. The supervisor will take full ownership of daily load sequencing and vendor coordination, as this critical accountability does not sit with forklift or transport providers.

This initial assignment is for 2 months, with potential for extension to a total of 3 months, starting immediately. The role is based in Mayfield, Newcastle, covering two sites located near each other.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run a daily pre-start meeting (approximately 5:30 am start) with forklift drivers to align on the daily load plan.
  • Liaise directly with the client on-site representative and respond to additional daily requirements.
  • Take full ownership of load sequencing and ensure batches are loaded exactly as instructed.
  • Oversee safe handling of high-value units, WHS compliance, PPE compliance, and truck load restraint (including cross-chaining).
  • Manage real-time operational changes, including breakdowns, cancellations, and sequencing adjustments.
  • Communicate any cost impacts or variations back to the office.
  • Coordinate daily bookings for labour, forklifts, and cranes across both sites in line with customer-approved volumes.
  • Agree on labour requirements with the customer before confirming daily bookings.

About You

  • Strong warehouse or yard supervision experience, ideally within project, heavy, or high-value cargo environments.
  • Confident coordinating multiple vendors and managing real-time operational changes.
  • Comfortable working in outdoor yard environments and starting early (approximately 5:30 am).
  • Strong safety mindset and practical knowledge of load restraint and WHS compliance.
  • Able to take ownership and make decisions on the ground with minimal disruption to the client.
  • Dangerous goods experience is ideal (but not essential).
