Category Manager

Whitehaven Coal is the dominant player in Australia’s only emerging high-quality coal basin. The Category Manager will support the execution of procurement strategy and lead high complexity sourcing projects in Newcastle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review spend analytics and develop sourcing strategies.
  • Lead competitive tendering and negotiate supplier contracts.
  • Analyze vendor spend data and mitigate commercial risk.
  • Mentor and lead category team members.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders to align award strategies with business objectives.
  • Occasional travel to operating sites.

What You'll Bring:

  • Extensive experience in complex procurement and sourcing projects.
  • Strong negotiation skills and proven tender leadership.
  • Excellent analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage stakeholder communications at a senior level.
  • Above average computer skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in mining, resources, or construction industry is a plus.
