Job Description

About BenchSci

BenchSci is on a mission to exponentially increase the speed and quality of life-saving research and development. We empower scientists to run more successful experiments with the world's most advanced, biomedical artificial intelligence software platform. Backed by Generation Investment Management, TCV, Inovia, F-Prime, Golden Ventures, and Google's AI fund, Gradient Ventures, we provide an indispensable tool for scientists that accelerates research at top pharmaceutical companies and leading academic centers.

The Role of a Product Manager

Join our Product Team as a Product Manager, and own the vision and roadmap for our Retrievals and Evaluations Team. This role sits at the intersection of cutting-edge AI, science, and data, where deep empathy for researchers and internal users will help you solve critical pain points in scaling data retrieval and evaluation across our applications. It's a challenging, high-impact, and intensely collaborative position where your work defines the future of our retrieval and evaluation capabilities.

You Will:

  • Develop strategy and roadmap for data retrieval and evaluation, including further innovation and optimization of existing capabilities and tooling
  • Drive execution as part of a cross-functional team focused on this particular product including Design, Engineering, Science, Data, and Project Management
  • Translate customer needs into user, technical, and data requirements and related resources and iterate quickly on the product
  • Measure and report key retrieval and evaluation metrics (e.g., MRR, Recall@K, MAP@K) to internal stakeholders to demonstrate the value created by the team

What You Bring

You Have:

  • 3+ years as a Product Manager on SaaS enterprise products or platforms with technically complex solutions. Experience working on scientifically-informed data and products, or information retrieval and evaluation systems, is preferred
  • A strong interest in science and AI - particularly in biology
  • A PhD in biology (or a related field) and/or experience and knowledge of Biological Sciences e.g., Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, etc.) or equivalent, would be a very strong asset in this role
  • A proven track record in bringing clarity to a complex domain and driving alignment between technical and data teams, and the rest of the company
  • Successfully taken new features from conception, through launch to adoption, engagement, and retention.
  • Experience influencing cross-functional teams to deliver outcomes over outputs
  • Prior experience in enterprise client-facing roles is ideal but not required. However, experience interacting directly with highly technical stakeholders is essential
  • Strong problem-solving skills - can deal with ambiguity, lead discovery efforts, prioritize, and drive execution on objectives, ensuring they ladder up to key strategies
  • A data-informed decision-making process, and can identify new opportunities and provide sound reasoning for strategy decisions from that data

Benefits & Perks

BenchSci offers a great compensation package that includes BenchSci equity options, a robust vacation policy plus an additional vacation day every year, and company closures for 14 more days throughout the year. Employees also benefit from flex time for sick days, personal days, and religious holidays, comprehensive health and dental benefits, and an annual learning & development budget. Other perks include a one-time home office set-up budget upon joining, an annual lifestyle spending account allowance, generous parental leave benefits with a top-up plan or paid time off options, and the ability to save for retirement coupled with a company match!

Our Culture

Our culture fosters transparency, collaboration, and continuous learning. We value each other's differences and always look for opportunities to embed equity into the fabric of our work. We foster diversity, autonomy, and personal growth, and provide resources to support motivated self-leaders in continuous improvement. You will work with high-impact, highly skilled, and intelligent experts motivated to drive impact and fulfill a meaningful mission.
