Role Overview

Benchling is on a mission to unlock the power of biotechnology. The Product Designer, Chemistry role is focused on building modern software to support scientific discoveries and improve research quality.

The Product Design team supports scientists solving important problems by making research workflows efficient and impactful.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering teams to define strategy and scope.
  • Work through product problems from definition to feature shipping.
  • Design and prototype multiple ideas quickly to validate directions.
  • Own end-to-end design for high-impact initiatives from research to implementation.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years driving design of SaaS products with strong user focus.
  • Proven portfolio of design work and successful product shipping.
  • Experience simplifying complex product architectures and workflows.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to justify design decisions.
  • Experience contributing to design systems for complex software.
  • Familiarity with agile environments working cross-functionally.
  • Background in lab work, scientific research or healthcare is a plus.
