Job Summary
The Supplier Quality Specialist will represent Bechtel at supplier sites, acting as the primary quality contact. Responsibilities include performing quality surveillance and hands-on inspections to verify that supplier-provided equipment, materials, documentation, and personnel activities meet the requirements outlined in procurement documents. This role involves close collaboration with supplier representatives to ensure mutual understanding and effective implementation of these requirements.
Major Responsibilities
- Represent Bechtel as the supplier's prime contact for quality matters on projects.
- Perform quality surveillance activities to verify supplier-furnished equipment and materials meet technical and quality requirements.
- Review procurement document requirements with suppliers to ensure understanding and implementation.
- Monitor supplier personnel activities, witnessing operations, inspections, and tests.
- Conduct hands-on inspections to verify the effectiveness of supplier inspection efforts.
- Review supplier-generated quality verification documentation for conformance.
- Reject non-conforming materials and collaborate on corrective actions.
- Release conforming materials for shipment and coordinate with other Bechtel functional organizations.
- Evaluate supplier conformance to quality criteria to inform future order placement recommendations.
- Conduct supplier surveys or audits as assigned.
- Participate in audits as a team member or technical resource, particularly for nuclear materials and quality programs.
Education And Experience Requirements
- Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent).
- 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge And Skills
- Review material requisitions and technical specifications for quality requirements, assisting Engineering in determining surveillance levels and witness/hold points.
- Assist in the development of bid lists and recommended bidder selection.
- Help establish required quality surveillance levels for each purchase.
- Participate in pre-award and post-award meetings with suppliers to clarify access rights, release authority, and notification procedures.
- Prepare quality surveillance and capability survey assignments for Supplier Quality Specialists.
- Investigate quality issues reported to the Supplier Quality Manager, utilizing available documentation.
- Review, edit, accept, and distribute reports according to manual and project procedures.
- Ensure survey and audit reports are approved and posted into GSIS.
- Regularly check anomaly code and assignment information in SQEAS for accuracy and make corrections.
- Provide project direction to Supplier Quality Representatives.
