Overview

The Director, Dam Safety & Programs Portfolio at BC Hydro is responsible for leading a team through the planning and execution of major dam safety capital projects and programs. The position supports the 10 Year Portfolio Delivery Plan and the Project Delivery Business Plan, ensuring project readiness and strategic execution through effective communication with BC Hydro executives and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee planning and execution of high value dam safety projects.
  • Develop strategies for resourcing, procurement, regulatory and safety management.
  • Prepare funding requests and project status reports for executives and the Board.
  • Lead, coach and mentor project managers and senior team personnel.
  • Facilitate stakeholder, First Nations, and regulatory engagement.
  • Champion safety and integrate risk management processes.
  • Drive contract strategies, negotiations and resolve escalations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for a unified project approach.

What You Bring

A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration or similar discipline with a Project Management Certification or eligibility to obtain. You should have 10 to 15 years of relevant experience, a proven track record in leading capital projects and dam safety projects, exceptional leadership, relationship building and negotiation skills, and the ability to manage complex stakeholder engagements.
