Job Description
Research Assistant
The Rotman Research Institute (RRI) at Baycrest offers an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant. The RRI is a premier international center dedicated to the study of human brain function. We advance the understanding of human brain structure and function in critical areas of cognitive neuroscience, including perception, memory, language, attention, and decision making. With a primary focus on aging and brain health, RRI scientists and trainees, along with other clinician researchers across Baycrest, are committed to promoting and impacting effective care and improved quality of life for older adults through research into age- and disease-related behavioral and neural changes.
This is a temporary contract position, up to one year, with a day shift, totaling 70 hours bi-weekly, located in Toronto. This role is non-union.
Responsibilities
- Recruiting and testing participants (neuropsychological, neuroimaging)
- Data management, including scoring and analyzing data
- Assisting with statistical analysis
- Preparing stimuli for studies
- Preparing and managing research ethics applications and grant applications
- Various administrative duties
Qualifications
- Four (4) year Bachelor degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Medical Biophysics, Computer Science, or Biomedical Engineering with a background in cognition and/or neuroscience OR a three (3) year General Bachelor of Science Degree in one of the above fields with a background in cognition and/or neuroscience, with a minimum of one (1) year of related experience OR a Master’s Degree with no experience

- Clinical experience with neurological populations
- Experience with programming experiments for data collection (including online)

Compensation
At Baycrest, we ensure our compensation structure is internally equitable and compliant with pay equity legislation. We believe in transparent, equitable compensation reflecting your experience and growth. Our salary ranges support progression, from learning the role to demonstrating full proficiency. For this Research Assistant position, the salary range is $39,873 to $54,826. The target hiring range is $39,873 to $49,842 per year. Your placement within this range will depend on your job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, education, relevant experience, market conditions, and internal equity to ensure fairness and consistency across the organization.
