Job Description

Inventory Control Specialist at Bass Pro Shops

The Inventory Control Specialist at Bass Pro Shops plays a crucial role in maintaining and promoting the accuracy of retail store inventory. This involves reviewing various inventory reports, conducting on-demand inventory audits, and effectively communicating results with store management. This multi-functional position collaborates closely with the sales floor, receiving teams, and retail leadership to ensure inventory accuracy, facilitate replenishment and sales, and actively mitigate merchandise loss and shrink for the organization.

In addition to inventory responsibilities, this position also provides essential customer service support throughout the store, performing various selling and customer service activities. This includes greeting and acknowledging all customers promptly and friendly, handling merchandise with care, and providing information, assistance, and direction to customers.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains inventory integrity and accuracy through on-demand and prescriptive inventory cycle counts.
  • Conducts empty peg and display integrity scans within departments, completing appropriate inventory adjustments to support in-stocks and replenishment.
  • Investigates and reconciles all inventory variance reports, such as negative on-hand reviews, aged in-transit items, and purchase order discrepancies.
  • Reviews and distributes price change reports to department leadership, completing inventory reviews and adjustments based on returned reports as needed.
  • Communicates inventory opportunities, issues, and discrepancies to Store Leadership for review and resolution.
  • Delivers a legendary customer experience by assisting customers with buying decisions, identifying and evaluating their needs, making product recommendations, and promoting programs like CLUB Membership, VOC and In-Store Pick-up.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Years of Experience: Two years

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in using System Two, RF/Gizmo devices, and DOMO reporting.
  • Ability to generate and analyze comprehensive inventory reporting.
  • Strong capability to process and organize information efficiently.
  • Skill in writing clear reports and effectively presenting findings to management.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with retail sales floor outfitters and leadership regarding price changes and inventory accuracy.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use ladders and/or lifts.
  • Regular engagement in computer work, walking, sitting, and standing.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
