We empower farmers to achieve optimal outcomes, balancing economic, environmental, and social value creation for sustainable and efficient agriculture.

The Opportunity: Marketing Communications Manager, Agricultural Solutions

As a Marketing Communications Manager, Agricultural Solutions, you will lead the end-to-end marketing communications strategy for the Corn, Soy, Horticulture, and P&SS portfolios. This role supports differentiated positioning and insight-driven grower and retailer experiences across every stage of the funnel to drive demand. Serving as a Subject Matter Expert for content strategy, you will ensure content is innovative, clear, cohesive, and meaningful, building a strong and trusted brand experience across crops. Through close collaboration with internal teams, you will ensure programs align with commercial needs and are consistently executed across all touchpoints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with crop and brand managers to develop integrated plans based on customer insights, segmentation, and lifecycle needs.
  • Align agency expectations, timelines, and deliverables early to support efficient marcom planning.
  • Lead the development, coordination, and execution of crop and brand marketing communications plans, ensuring alignment with business objectives, segmentation priorities, and budget.
  • Act as the primary liaison between BASF and the agency for Corn, Soy, Horticulture, P&SS portfolios, and cross-crop campaigns.
  • Provide clear direction, feedback, and approvals to stakeholders to ensure timely and relevant content.
  • Collaborate with MarCom teammates to create a cohesive cross-crop and brand customer journey.
  • Manage an integrated campaign calendar to prevent overlap, support prioritization, and ensure coordinated execution.
  • Champion the BASF brand by ensuring all content adheres to brand standards and strategic positioning.
  • Author and lead content strategy by defining themes, narratives, and guidelines that maintain quality, consistency, and a unified voice across portfolios and touchpoints.
  • Utilize CRM data to support accurate targeting and personalization and advocate for GenAI tools and modern content practices.
  • Collaborate across teams to translate insights into compelling content that supports customer journeys and drives measurable impact.
  • Develop the content best-practice playbook and manage brand, crop, and cross-crop budgets through accurate forecasting and monthly tracking.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Data Analytics, Communications, Agriculture, or a related field, or equivalent experience (required).
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in marketing, brand management, integrated campaign leadership, or other commercial experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the agriculture industry, with an understanding of grower and retail customers in Canada (preferred).
  • Content strategy or GenAI certifications (preferred).
  • Experience with GenAI tools is considered an asset.
  • Strong background in content strategy and storytelling.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to foster innovation, embrace and implement change, while working with agencies and multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in content strategy, editorial planning, messaging and narrative frameworks, and website editing.
  • Strong judgment, responsiveness, and brand stewardship.
  • Knowledge of the crop protection and seed industry, farmer, retail customers, and/or a strong aptitude to learn.
  • Financial literacy for managing multiple budgets across various teams and functions, including monthly forecasting and tracking.
  • Experience with CMS platforms (Magnolia preferred) and GenAI marketing tools (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Analytics platforms (e.g., Piano, GA4, Adobe Analytics) (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (required).
