Job Summary

The Assistant Buyer supports the Buyer in developing and executing on-brand product assortments that drive sales and profitability for both Barnes & Noble and Paper Source. This role is critical to bringing the company’s merchandising vision to life through thoughtful planning, keen attention to detail, and strong cross-functional collaboration.

What You Do

  • Monitor and respond to vendor communications; escalate issues as needed.
  • Manage item setup and ongoing maintenance for product information.
  • Collaborate with the data team to onboard new vendor partners.
  • Attend cross-functional meetings to stay informed of initiatives.
  • Analyze weekly business performance and identify opportunities.
  • Partner with New Store Planning as a key liaison for Merchandising.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Highly organized and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Proven ability to build partnerships across cross-functional teams.
  • Deep understanding of target customer and application of insights.
  • Strong Excel and reporting skills with an analytical mindset.
  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of two years experience at BN or Paper Source preferred.
