Position Summary
The Sales Engineer represents the company to achieve sales of engineered products for space and defense industries. Responsibilities include communicating technical and functional product details, capturing new business, application engineering, product sizing, proposal generation, and order closing to meet annual sales goals.
Key Results Areas
- New Business Lifecycle: Identify, mature, and qualify opportunities through direct communications and customer site visits.
- Proposal Leadership: Lead proposal planning and execution, ensuring compliance with FAR and cost requirements.
- Technical Expertise: Build in-depth knowledge of BN products including pumps, compressors, turbines, and power electronics.
- Market & Relationship Building: Cultivate customer relationships, support trade shows, and collaborate with the marketing team to enhance product promotion.
Qualifications & Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience is required along with at least 5 years in technical sales or a related engineering role. Applicants must have excellent communication skills, a valid driver’s license, and the flexibility to work overtime and travel up to 20% of the time.
Desired Competencies
- Knowledge of rotating equipment and related engineering principles.
- Ability to apply engineering principles to turbomachinery and power electronics.
- Understanding industry standards, market processes, and, ideally, government contracting.
Physical & Mental Demands and Work Environment
This role requires various physical activities including onsite facility inspections and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds in environments with changing temperatures and possible hazards. Mental tasks involve detailed analysis, report writing, and working under pressure.
Work Authorization & ITAR Requirements
Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and be able to obtain a U.S. government security clearance. Compliance with ITAR is mandatory.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range is between $75,000 and $135,000, with final compensation based on qualifications and experience. Additional benefits details can be found on the company’s careers page.
