Role Description

The Pharmacy Clinical Specialist I Emergency Medicine is responsible for establishing and expanding clinical services within their area of practice. This involves developing medication protocols, creating order sets, and facilitating medication utilization reviews and performance improvement projects to optimize drug therapy. The specialist will also provide mentorship and serve as a clinical resource for staff and other healthcare providers, offering expertise for clinical activities across various pharmacy programs to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Additionally, the role includes assigned drug distributive functions and a focus on patient growth and development based on population groups, meeting quality standards as measured by the quality improvement process.

Qualifications

  • Degrees: Doctorate (Pharm.D.)
  • Licenses & Certifications: Registered Pharmacist

Additional Requirements

  • If no residency training, candidates must possess 5 years of practice experience in the area of specialty and Board Certification.
  • If no Board Certification, BPS must be obtained within one year of the hire date to remain in this position.
  • PGY1 residency with 2 years practice experience in the area of specialty and Board Certified Pharmacist (BPS) required.
  • PGY2 residency requires Board Certified Pharmacist (BPS) within 1 year of hire.
  • (Note: PGY1 equates to 3 years of experience, and PGY2 equates to 2 additional years).
