Junior AI/ML Solutions Engineer

Job Overview

The Junior AI/ML Solutions Engineer at BankUnited is an early‐career role focused on designing, implementing, and supporting end‐to‐end AI solutions. The role involves enhancing financial services, improving customer experiences, and optimizing internal operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to generative AI applications for document analysis and conversational assistants.
• Evaluate and integrate large language models with prompt engineering.
• Develop and maintain ML pipelines on AWS ensuring reproducibility and automation.
• Implement data pipelines/ETL for dataset preparation for training and inference.
• Support and enhance existing AI/ML solutions through maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Assist in model benchmarking, experiment tracking, and performance documentation.
• Deploy solutions using CI/CD and MLOps practices with alerting and logging.
• Leverage Microsoft Copilot Studio and Microsoft 365 Copilot features for automation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate AI opportunities into technical tasks.
• Adhere to regulatory compliance and internal banking policies including AML guidelines.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience is required alongside up to 1.5 years of practical experience through coursework or internships in ML or generative AI. Familiarity with RAG, vector search, and Microsoft Graph APIs is a plus.

Technical Skills

• Foundational Python skills and ML framework exposure.
• Familiarity with cloud ML platforms (e.g., AWS SageMaker).
• Basic SQL, data modeling, and understanding of NLP and LLM concepts.
• Knowledge of data security, privacy, and model governance in financial services.
• Awareness of benchmarking, controlled testing, vector databases, and semantic search technologies.
