What is the opportunity?
This is an an exciting opportunity to work in a team that covers investigations across the breadth of Bank of Ireland Group. You will be working in a highly-motivated and agile team, with exposure to Senior Management and Executives across the Bank.
You will lead the strategic delivery of the Senior Manager Speak Up & Investigations programme, ensuring high-quality investigations, regulatory compliance, and a culture of openness and accountability.
In This Role, You Will
- Be responsible for the management of complex and highly-sensitive investigations, ensuring consistency, fairness, and alignment with policy and legal standards.
- Provide strategic feedback into the design and continuous improvement of the Bank's Speak Up framework, policies, and procedures.
- Act as a key liaison with the business and internal audit on Speak Up-related matters.
- Ensure robust governance and reporting of Speak Up activity to Senior Committees and Boards.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to embed a strong Speak Up culture and support in addressing root causes of misconduct.
- Champion a culture of continuous learning, high performance and wellbeing, leading by example to increase enterprise-wide collaboration and inclusion.
What will make you stand out?
- Expertise in leading and supervising sensitive and enterprise-level investigations with significant reputational or regulatory impact at a Senior Management level.
- In-depth knowledge of whistleblowing frameworks, regulatory obligations, and industry best practices in investigations (ideally for both Republic of Ireland and UK).
- Demonstrable experience in strategic development and thinking and the ability to identify systemic issues, trends, and root causes from investigation outcomes.
- Strong leadership, influencing and motivational skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration and cultural change.
- Lead in an agile way at all times, focusing on continuous improvement and delivering the highest 'insight' value, being flexible with approaches and strategies as needed.
- Ability to design and implement policies, procedures, and training to enhance speak-up and investigation capability.
- High level of integrity, resilience, and sound judgement in navigating complex ethical and operational challenges.
- Strong understanding of enterprise risk management and the role of investigations in strengthening internal controls.
Essential Qualifications
Professional qualification in Legal, Accounting, Forensic Investigations or Internal Audit.
More About The Team
The Bank of Ireland Speak Up & Investigations (SUI) unit sits in the 3rd Line of Defence, alongside Group Internal Audit. The SUI unit reports into the Head of SUI, who in turn reports into the Group Chief Internal Auditor (GCIA). This unit has ownership of the Group Speak Up Policy and has accountability to conduct and / or coordinate detailed, sensitive and confidential Investigations across BoI on matters including breaches of policy and or legal / regulatory obligations.
