Equity Research Analyst/Associate, Internet
The Bank of America Internet team covers over 45 stocks with a market capitalization exceeding $3 trillion, and has vetted over 50 private companies for IPOs. This sector is a significant contributor to Trading, Sales, and Global Wealth and Investment Management.
This role offers an exciting opportunity for candidates with one to five years of experience in research, Investment Banking, Consulting, Venture Capital, or Corporate Management. Working alongside Senior and Junior Analysts, you will be involved in all aspects from idea generation to company meetings, playing a critical role in financial modeling and qualitative analysis for IPO vetting, follow-on offerings, sales teach-ins, and new coverage launches.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive financial modeling and valuation work.
- Regularly author industry and company reports, including initiations of coverage.
- Analyze data from various market research databases.
- Respond promptly to research inquiries from institutional investor clients during market hours.
- Conduct interviews with industry experts regarding covered companies and sectors.
- Build and maintain relationships, facilitating information flow with contacts at covered companies.
- Actively participate in and contribute to industry conferences and events.
- Closely monitor and understand stock market, industry, and company-specific activity, relaying key insights to the Senior Analyst.
- Seek out new and unconventional sources of information to enhance research capabilities.
- Collaborate with Senior Analysts to develop key industry themes.
- Demonstrate strong industry knowledge and sound business judgment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required; progress towards a CFA or other relevant professional certifications is a significant advantage.
- Extensive experience in modeling income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements within Excel.
- Proven ability to write clearly and concisely about complex topics in technology and business.
- Proficiency in comprehending and creating charts, diagrams, tables, and other data visualizations.
- 1-5 years of experience in a formal research capacity, Investment Banking, Consulting, Venture Capital, or a Corporate Management function.
- Must have extensive experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; VBA and data science skills are a plus.
- Ability to respond effectively to time-sensitive tasks, such as preparing earnings reports and client communications.
- Genuine interest in following the stock market, high-technology companies, and conducting both desktop and field research.
- Alongside Finance and Accounting, a basic understanding of economics, macroeconomic factors, and international affairs is essential.
- Requires strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task effectively.
