Your Role and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Partners and the Assurance & Advisory team to assist in planning, execution, and completion of a wide range of Audit and Review engagements, working both independently and as part of a team.
- Manage the engagement process including planning, execution, and finalization in accordance with applicable Standards, including continuous communication with the team and clients regarding deadlines and deliverables.
- Support, mentor, and train a team of professionals during field assignments while actively managing the engagement progress, which includes occasional preparation of files where additional assistance is required.
- Guide the team on accounting and auditing standards as well as BTNS specific methodology. Proactive project management with strong communication of expectations to the team as well as and ongoing status updates with Partners and clients is important.
- Analyze financial information and operational performance for adherence to applicable accounting standards.
- Assess risk, controls, and accounting processes to offer clients solutions and recommendations.
- Review personal, corporate, non-profit and charitable organizations tax returns.
- Compile and review financial statements and related note disclosures to ensure in accordance with applicable financial reporting frameworks.
- Provide personal and attentive service to clients to encourage productive working relationships.
- Add value by identifying client service opportunities, including cross-team collaboration.
- Coach, mentor, and develop assigned coachees for high performance and professional growth.
- Share your technical or human skills with the broader Assurance team by developing and facilitating ongoing training opportunities.
- Engage with all levels of our team while working to bring our strategy to life and participate in firm wide events that foster our amazing workplace culture.
What You Bring to Baker Tilly Canada
- Canadian CPA designation required.
- Minimum of 4+ years of total experience in Audit within a professional services firm working with private enterprises and not-for-profits of differently complexity levels.
- Experience working in ASPE and ASNPO financial reporting frameworks is required. IFRS and PSAS experience is an asset.
- Previous corporate tax experience is an asset.
- Proven track record of planning and executing effective and efficient Audit engagements on time and budget.
- Strong technical and analytical skills matched with problem-solving skills and professional judgement to help you find optimal solutions in an efficient manner.
- Curiosity and an eye for detail that allows you to view challenges from multiple perspectives and enhance clients’ knowledge along the way.
- Strong project management and organizational skills that make your ability to multi-task and meet deadlines second to none.
- Self-motivation with an ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Experience with Caseware/Caseview, TaxPrep, Quickbooks Online, and Sage Accounting is an asset.
- Technological strength with MS Office 365, especially in Microsoft Excel.
