The Technology Insights Group (TIG) at Bain & Company is a rapidly growing global team of world-class technologists. We serve as technical advisors to leading Private Equity (PE) investors and their tech-enabled portfolio companies, specializing in product and technology due diligence engagements and value creation assignments. Our team comprises technology-savvy consultants, former CTOs, and CPOs with extensive advising and operating experience, having completed over 400 engagements worldwide. We support clients on visible technology investments across enterprise applications, vertical applications (HCIT, FinTech, EdTech), infrastructure software, cloud software, and tech-enabled services (IT services, e-Commerce, AdTech).
What You'll Do
Joining the Technology Insights Group (TIG) offers an exciting opportunity to build a critical capability at Bain. You will collaborate closely with global Tech leadership and regional private equity teams. Leveraging your technology and consulting experience, you will actively contribute to projects, assessing key aspects of leading software companies for PE investors. Your role involves helping clients strategically approach technology's impact on their businesses and solving complex issues. You will enhance your technology expertise, commercial acumen, and analytical capabilities while gaining direct exposure to CEOs, Executives, and Private Equity professionals. This role provides an excellent foundation whether your long-term goal is to grow with us, join a PE/VC firm, or launch a technology company.
Responsibilities in detail:
- Lead technology due diligence and value creation workstreams and analyses for PE investors targeting software businesses.
- Actively contribute across the entire client engagement, from formulating project scope to building and presenting final reports.
- Drive and support primary and secondary research efforts; collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data from various sources.
- Conduct hypothesis-led problem solving, communicate complex ideas, and approach problems strategically.
- Effectively develop and communicate recommendations and insights to the project team, PE investors, and technology leaders.
- Invest in special initiatives and projects that help scale the practice (operations/systems).
About You
This role requires a minimum of three days per week working in person, either at a client location or at your Bain home office. Travel is required, with frequency and destinations varying based on project needs.
The Expert Senior Associate Consultant, Technology Due Diligence role demands a passion for transformation, an entrepreneurial spirit, empathy, and technical aptitude. Highly valued attributes include:

- Experience: 2+ years in a software or technology-related position or industry; technical due diligence experience and/or a technical background in a PE firm are strongly preferred.
