Principal Systems Engineer
Location: Dorchester. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements available.
Salary: Up to £70,000 depending on skills and experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
The Principal Systems Engineer will have oversight and responsibility for general systems engineering activities across the engineering lifecycle, as delegated by the METOC Engineering Delivery Lead. Key responsibilities include:
- Act as the point of contact with customers and/or suppliers for engineering matters.
- Make engineering decisions within delegated authority.
- Identify and report safety and quality concerns and improve processes.
- Provide guidance and development to less experienced team members.
- Produce technical reports, plans and present information to management and peers.
- Deliver tasks within budget and agreed timescales.
Your Skills and Experiences
Essential: Experience managing a small technical team, knowledge of the engineering lifecycle, background in Hardware, Software or Systems Engineering, degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline, and Chartered Engineer status or equivalent registration.
Desirable: Understanding of systems engineering methodologies, competence with systems engineering tools.
The METOC Team
The team manages environmental sensor data, with diverse experience spanning MoD, Industry, and academia. The role involves collaborative working with T26 and HCF customers and other external stakeholders to deliver the METOC system for various programmes.
