About the Materials Failure Analysis Intern Role

Are you a rising junior pursuing a degree in Materials Science Engineering or a related field with a focus on Failure Analysis? Join the BAE Systems ES Engineering and Operations Capabilities (EOC), Materials Engineering Capability Group (MACG) for a challenging and rewarding summer internship in Manassas, Virginia! As a Materials Failure Analysis Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to play a key role in supporting critical programs across BAE Systems, gaining hands-on experience in a variety of areas.

• Investigating material failures to determine root causes.
• Contributing to solutions and preventative measures through corrective action and continuous improvement.
• Utilizing state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and techniques for materials testing.
• Applying your materials knowledge to improve hardware designs and influence future development.
• Practical experience applying classroom knowledge to real-world engineering challenges.
• Development of valuable analytical, continuous process improvement, and problem-solving skills.

We’re looking for a self-motivated individual with a strong understanding of materials science and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Required Qualifications

• Rising Junior, pursuing a degree in Materials Science Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in a materials/failure analyses lab environment.
• Solid understanding of the basics of materials engineering.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and cooperatively with peers to define and resolve processes and analyses.
• Motivated self-starter and collaborative problem solver.

Preferred Qualifications

• Participant in prior STEM, Wit, or similar technology programs.
