Job Summary
In this Embedded Software Engineer Lead opportunity, you will be part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment supporting a dynamic cross-functional team that supports safety critical systems and make impacts in the following ways:
- Lead a team of Software Developers in developing real-time embedded electronics solutions for high integrity and safety critical applications through all stages of the software development cycle (requirements, design, code, and verification).
- Ensure compliance with industry standards such as DO-178C, DO-331 and other relevant safety and security guidelines.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Systems and Hardware Engineers to translate business needs and customer requirements into technical solutions, including performing SW/HW integration testing, verification, and debug.
- Implement and oversee best practices for software development, including version control, coding standards, automated testing, and integration.
- Responsibilities may also include reverse engineering existing code bases to address problem reports, implement enhancements and improve overall structure for maintainability.
- Assist in risk management and mitigation strategies for software development.
- The Software Lead will be expected to present to a wide variety of stakeholders including customers, managers, and business area leaders.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- BS with 8+ years of experience in avionics or electronic controls embedded development in a safety or mission critical environment (ie; aerospace, military, energy, nuclear, automotive, medical devices).
- A proven track record of successfully leading Software development teams, delivering on commitments, and mentoring and developing their team.
- Full software lifecycle leadership experience from requirements development through verification.
- Experience with one or more embedded software programming languages such as C.
- Experience in Cost and Schedule tracking (EVM).
- Technical writing skills: capable of creating required engineering documentation.
- Ability to Obtain a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD Degree with 10 or more years of related experience.
- Experience in Safety Critical or Mission Critical Industries such as: Aerospace, Military, Medical, Automotive, Industrial / Energy / Nuclear.
- Experience with ARM/PowerPC processors and associated System on Chip features.
- Experience developing device drivers/board support packages.
- Experience with developing software to DO-178 standards.
- Familiar with data transfer protocols (ARINC 429, RS-232, MIL-STD-1553).
- Experience with model-based design (MBD) and auto-code generation using tools like MATLAB/Simulink.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $130,355 - $221,603
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
