Overview
Babbel is seeking a Data Engineer to join our Data and Analytics Engineering team in Berlin. The team is committed to empowering data-driven decision-making across the organization by designing, building, and maintaining data infrastructure and pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and integrations using Databricks (Python), dbt, and related tools.
- Develop and maintain analytics workflows and dashboards in Tableau and Databricks Notebooks.
- Support data migration and management across platforms including Snowflake and Databricks.
- Integrate data from various sources using tools like Fivetran.
- Collaborate with analytics, product, and engineering teams to deliver actionable insights.
- Maintain and improve AWS-based data infrastructure with a focus on security and cost-effectiveness.
- Participate in projects involving machine learning engineering and MLOps practices.
- Contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Practical experience with Databricks (Python), Snowflake, dbt, and AWS.
- Familiarity with the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform, unified analytics and ETL/ELT practices.
- Experience with data pipeline orchestration and integration tools (e.g., Fivetran).
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and PySpark.
- Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance in cloud environments.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Bonus: Experience or interest in MLOps and machine learning engineering.
- Nice to have: Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) and RAG architectures.
