About Aztec
At Aztec, our goal is to add privacy to Ethereum. We tackle blockchain privacy and security challenges using cutting-edge encryption technologies like Plonk and Noir. Our team is building a first-of-its-kind Layer 2 solution with private smart contracts, which requires innovative cryptographic primitives and a robust legal framework.
The Role
Aztec is seeking a motivated Paralegal (Legal & Compliance Associate) on an initial three-month contract, with potential for extension or permanent conversion. You will work closely with our General Counsel and Legal Counsel, addressing legal, regulatory, and compliance challenges across multiple jurisdictions.
Your Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and manage routine legal agreements (NDAs, consultancy, grant, employment amendments).
- Assist with board and shareholder matters, including board packs and statutory registers.
- Track and summarise global legal and regulatory developments in crypto, fintech, and privacy.
- Conduct legal research on securities law, intellectual property, data privacy, and more.
- Contribute to process improvements for the Legal team.
- Liaise with internal/external stakeholders as a point of contact.
- Provide general legal support on corporate governance and ad-hoc tasks.
Must-haves
- Law degree (LLB) or Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL/CPE).
- 3 years’ experience as a paralegal or legal assistant.
- Proven experience in drafting and reviewing legal agreements.
- Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
Nice-to-haves
- In-house paralegal experience.
- Paralegal certifications (NALP, CILEx).
- Experience with AML/KYC compliance and regulator interactions.
- Familiarity with corporate governance and company secretarial duties.
- Knowledge of legal/regulatory frameworks in privacy, crypto, and fintech.
