Data Privacy Lawyer at Axiom

Axiom is actively seeking highly experienced Data Privacy Lawyers to collaborate with our F100 to F500 clients across a diverse range of industries. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for providing expert legal counsel on privacy compliance, meticulously updating privacy policies, and drafting crucial agreements, all while ensuring adherence to global privacy standards. We are looking for candidates who possess at least 7 years of relevant experience, exceptional academic and professional credentials, and a profound understanding of key privacy legislation such as GDPR, PIPEDA, and the Privacy Act.

Responsibilities

  • Offer comprehensive legal advice concerning privacy compliance requirements and identify opportunities to enhance privacy policies for both Canadian and multinational corporations.
  • Review, draft, and update privacy policies, skillfully negotiating and drafting master services agreements in strict accordance with global privacy requirements.
  • Provide crucial support for the development of guidelines, training programs, and tools designed to bolster privacy accountability and compliance across client organizations.
  • Directly collaborate with and advise business clients, offering practical guidance and effective solutions for a variety of corporate policies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of 7+ years of substantive experience in data protection and data privacy law, accompanied by exceptional academic and law firm credentials. In-house legal experience is considered a significant advantage.
  • Must be a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • Possess an in-depth knowledge of Canadian, U.S., and EU privacy statutes, including but not limited to GDPR, PIPEDA, and the Privacy Act.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing regulatory and policy advice specifically within the areas of data protection, privacy law, and other related information law fields.
